Empire Health Services (EHS) is a not-for profit, multi-service
healthcare system providing inpatient and outpatient services
to the Spokane community, Eastern Washington and the surrounding
three-state region as well as bordering Canadian provinces.
At the core of EHS is Deaconess
Medical Center, in downtown Spokane, and Valley
Hospital and Medical Center, located
in the eastern part of the Spokane Valley. Through
its combined 511 licensed acute care beds and outpatient
services, our hospitals treat over 225,000 patients a
year.
Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital and Medical
Center have high ratings when it comes to providing exceptional
care. Both are ranked as top-tier healthcare providers
by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO). In addition, Deaconess’ overall
cardiac, vascular and gastrointestinal services ranked
among the top 10 percent in the nation for 2006
by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading provider of independent
hospital ratings, and number one in the state of Washington
for overall cardiac and vascular services. For
the fourth time in seven years, Deaconess has been recognized
as a Solucient Top 100 Heart Hospital®. Additionally, our patients consistently
score both hospitals as “excellent” on patient
satisfaction surveys.
Four FirstCare urgent
care clinics, located throughout the Spokane and Liberty
Lake area, also fall under the EHS umbrella. These clinics
have board-certified physicians available seven days a
week to treat minor illnesses and injuries and to provide
basic outpatient medical services.
The EHS family consists of over 2,400 employees, making
it one of the largest private employers in Spokane. Our
employees, along with 650 medical
staff physicians and 500 auxiliary
volunteers, are committed
to driving compassionate, continuous improvements in the
health of our patients, physicians, employees and all we
serve.
Under the direction of a community-based Board of Directors, President and CEO
Jeff Nelson and the EHS team carry out the mission of the organization. EHS strives
to improve the quality of life for our community, by providing an integrated
healthcare delivery system characterized by collaboration, innovation and high
value to the people we serve. |
